The Beginning of Talent INC•
Talent INC was born out of the idea of making careers for entertainers a little more accessible. Scott Cooper created this program out of his life experience as an Actor, Singer, Dancer, Director, Casting Director and Agent.
“It is my privilege and honor to introduce you to Talent INC. When I was a six year old boy, growing up in a small town in North Carolina, I did not know what it meant to be a professional actor or entertainer. All I knew was that every week I would watch a show on TV called “The Brady Bunch.” I sat during each episode wondering why I was not “Bobby Brady” the youngest character on this family sitcom. I begged my mother to let me be on TV. I would make up plays in my room, force my family to listen to me sing at reunions and entered every talent show or school play that I could find. By the time I had graduated high school, I had performed and starred in over 30 productions ranging from “McBeth” to “The Sound of Music.” Every time the curtain would go up I would imagine a “Hollywood” agent was sitting in the audience watching me in my production. I actually thought that one day an agent would see me perform as “Pinocchio” or “The Artful Dodger” and put me on a sitcom. Now I realize that was not ever going to happen. Careers in entertainment don’t just happen. You have to work to develop your art form and get yourself in front of the right people. People that can open doors to a career that you desire. My mom was from a small town in North Carolina and had no idea how to help me train or find an agency. It is my mission to educate all of those “Bobby Brady Wanabees” and their parents and give them the stage in front of top agencies that can open doors that I never had opened.
Living in New York as a musical theatre actor, I found it impossible to get an appointment with top agencies. Relentlessly, I would send out hundreds of headshots and resumes, but so were thousands of actors in New York. I spent years in the city standing in line for hours just to sing 16 bars of my audition piece. All of the actors with agents would just walk to the front of the line for a scheduled appointment. Every time I would see this happen I would think “If only I could perform for agencies I would be able to get representation!” But where do you get an opportunity like that? I solved my own problem. Talent INC is the answer. Through my program you will be instructed in every aspect of the entertainment industry. For new talent it is the chance to quickly build skills and a resume and for experienced talent an opportunity to sharpen and polish your abilities. Through the development masterclasses we cover Acting for the Camera, Audition Techniques, TV Commercial Acting, Film Acting, Monologue Techniques, Improvisational Acting, Runway technique, Photo movement, business aspect of Entertainment, Booking the Job, and Lifestyle and Commercial Print. Then in a huge show each talent gets to show their individual talents in front of a panel of 25 to 30 of the top agencies in the world. You will have the opportunity to choose performances in Singing, Dancing, TV Commercial, Film Scene, Monologue, Runway, Swimsuit, Photography or any specialty act.
As I left my career as an actor and went to work as a director, casting director and then agent, I realized something new. These people that I was so intimidated by are real just like I am. They want you to be good. They want to discover you. They want to like you. It is not the fact that talent in North Carolina, Ohio or Idaho are not gifted. It is the simple fact that these major casting directors and agents just don’t know that you exist. At least not until Talent INC. Now a small town talent like I was can meet, take master classes with and perform for top agencies that I now consider my friends. On the final day of the Talent INC. National Showcase, you will be able to meet with each agency in attendance. Imagine being able to meet and interview with 25 to 30 agencies in one day.
